Mike is quite correct. There was no 1971 SE model. Although you could still order the formal roof. It was code A78.

i looked into this question after i bought my 70 R/T S.E.

in 1971 the challenger was no longer available as a Special Edition JS29 model but an option group was offered instead, which was A78.

to have the A78 option on a 1971 challenger is very rare though.

in 1971 there where 105 R/T challengers with A78 option and 229 non R/T challengers with A78 option. so only 334 challengers came with the A78 option (formal roof) code. as you can see that is a pretty rare option.

You probably got them from here.

If not they were stolen from here because I scanned them myself. They are in a "sticky" thread at the top of this section.

I scanned them from a copy of Mopar Action I think? Or maybe from one of Mr Norms sport club magazines when I was a member? They are Galen Govier's numbers.
