motor decoding on id boss?

Postby rtse4406pack » 09 Nov 2007 20:15

i have the following codes on the id boss on top of the front of the engine,in front of where the intake starts. any help on decoding will be very welcome. F 440 (top line) 11 4 HP2 (bottom line). does this equate to F=1970 model + 440=440 motor, 11 4= date of assembly november 4 1969 and hp2= special high performance. these are my guesses. correct me if im wrong. :s006:

I believe you are absolutely correct in your decoding. Does the machined pad on the passenger side on the lower part of the block have your vin number?

yes,the lower part of the block right before the oil pan has ob152XXX which matches my vin but the ob is bo on my dash and fender tag vin which i know is correct to be reversed. my transmission also has the ob152xxx vin #. thanks bob, just feals good to know my car is a #'s matching car. i am slowly learning all the codes for my challenger with thanks to everyone here on the board and the hamtramck registry which also has amazing info.

the Scheduled Production Date of your Challenger is A06 (October, 6th. 1969), the engine was assembled 4th of November 1969 (F 11 4)....
this looks strange for me :s008:
