HELP HELP where are the moter numbers

Postby Typhoon » 10 Jan 2007 11:12

Where do I find the numbers on the block and how do I tell if it is a numbers matching car. 1970 Challenger R/T 440. The original owner died a couple years ago, so I can't ask questions. I have the original bill of sale, window sticker, fender tag, owner manual, etc. Also where do I find the build sheet(not under rear seat) Mike typhoon@cascadeaccess.com

Look here;

http://challenger.mpoli.fi/forum/viewto ... =4119#4119

If all the numbers shown here on the body, engine and transmission match then the car is "numbers matching".

Broadcast sheets can be found;

Taped to the back side or top of the glove box insert
Under either or both front bucket seats tucked in the springs
Inside the removable plastic bucket seat back covers
Under the rear seat bottom
In the rear seat back
Under the rear speaker shelf
Under the carpet.

Good luck on that build sheet search if this Challenger was built in Los Angeles. The "Clean Car" policy on that line usually kept them from being left in the cars.

Hello Jack! :D Nice to see you.

I always forget that small point about the LA plant. But as the guy has never been back or said thanks or anything after I posted my reply I hope he is still tearing the car apart looking for it. :twisted:
