Postby 1206 » 09 Jan 2006 17:11

Trying to figure out if my engine has been gone through before..
On the piston it says 020 and other numbers did not right them down.
dose that mean 20 over??? did the factory ever go 20 over? also it has a doubler roller timing chain is that orignal for a TA 340???

the front of the engine Lh bank says FW340sP31400092 the s is lower
then the other numbers whats that mean thanks

It sounds like the 20 over happened after it left the factory. For the number on the front of the engine, it decodes like this;

F - Series (year) 1970
W - Windsor, Ontario Canada. (assembly plant)
340 - 340 CID
s - Special ( T/A block in this case )
P - Premium fuel
3140 - Date the engine was assembled (from the 10,000 day calendar) - March 3rd, 1970
0092 - 92nd engine assembled at this plant on the date above.

T/Ake care,
Barry

Probably. You would have to measure the bore size to be absolutely sure.
