Fender Louvre and stripe delete ?

Not sure if this has been covered here before ? Anybody ever hear of a '72 Challenger Rallye 340, that came from the factory WITHOUT the side louvres, (or whatever there called), and no strobe stripes either.

Found a picture of my '72 Rallye in the original owner documentation, dated Dec 72, car was produced 10/71, sold 11/71, have original dealer Bill Of Sale. Picture shows car NO STRIPES or LOUVRES on that date 10/72(picture date). Otherwise as original, same as today.

Can't believe original owner had already removed Louvres and stripes and repainted in 1 yr. I Think it's original that way, Any way to find out for sure from broadcast sheet or fender tags ?

My Bodyguy who's redoing the car can find no evidence where they may have been at one point in it's life either ?

Was there a stripe/strobe/louvre delete code ??

I'm not going to acquire and re-install anyway, just very curious now as to what the heck is going on. I thought all '72 Rallye Challengers came with the "Fatty Side" Disco stripes and "Louvres" ??

Any info greatly appreciated.

Looking at Galen's book, I only see the A57 package listed for the 1973 and 1974 Challengers. A57 was the Rallye Package and it included the scoops and stripes, so maybe they were not available in '72?

Edit;

I looked here;

http://challenger.mpoli.fi/forum/viewto ... r+brochure

and it does show the louvers. Maybe it was coded differently, I will see what I can find.

They were standard on the JS Ralley but there must have been a code for them even if it was not on the tag?

I wonder if the stripe delete code covered the louvres too? :?
