I just puchased a 1970 Challenger RT 383, and am trying to document it. Is there any place I can find codes on the rear axle or the differential to determine if it is the one original to the car? Thanks.

I don't think so. But the build (broadcast) sheet will tell you what axle and gears your car had originally. As long as the type is the same I do not think it is possible to tell if it was the one originally fitted. I do not remember there being a cast in date code?? Maybe there is? I don't remember seeing one.
