Anyone know where I can find out how many triple black RT SE with a 440 in it were made? If it helps there were 875 RT SE 440's made, I just need to know how many were triple black. Thanks, Mike.

Welcome to the board Mike,

As you mentioned production No. for JS29U0 was 875 ( 142 4spd and 733 auto ) below that spec. there are no official records, maybe some can say that so and so many % of the cars was in that or that color but no facts.
In Sweden we have 27 JS29xxx which of 4 JS29U0xx, 4 JS29V0xx and 1 JS29R0xx of totally 470 Challenger 1970-74.

Just to add to what PeO was saying;

Someone might be able to tell you that approx so many % of all challengers that year were black. And that approx so many % of all challengers that year had a black vinyl roof.

But you cannot then conclude how many of the black cars had black vinyl tops. It might have been all of them or non of them or any number in-between.

I've narrowed it down to 1 of 733 with the the automatic transmission. Does anyone know where I can get the percentages painted black or anything. I know this is not a very reliable number but I just want to come up with some type of estimate. I read in another post if you use the percentages (although they did not have them) you can get pretty close to how many there actually were.

I have two numbers for TX9 Black Challengers - I don't know where they came from or if they are accurate... 2% for total Challengers and 4.9% for R/T SE. Either way they are fairly rare. Hope this helps...Dave.

Yip, it's a sad fact. :cry:

The only real way (which is till not entirely possible) is to put all 1970 Challengers on a big field and seperate them into color, drivetrain, options etc......Impossible but probably closer than the % game. :mrgreen:

paint color info

Postby 1162 » 09 Nov 2005 3:16

Paint color = black for RT/SE is 12.2 % for ( rt/se ) only
V / TOP = is 64.? % for ( rt/se ) only

You didn,t say if you had black leather interior or not. ????

If it did = black leather interior for RT/SE = 56.6 fo ( rt/se ) only.

numbers are correct.

these numbers are for U.S based cars...numbers might seem high ,but they didn,t built really that many rt/se s.

hope this has helped you. bs27hib
