where are the Vin #'s on the frame

Postby john kennon » 13 Dec 2004 1:15

I have to get vins reissued by the washington state patrol. The body vins match my title although all the vin plates are gone. Need to check the frame to make sure I'm not wasting my time with the staters

The body is the frame. The car is unibody construction.

The core support will have a digit, 0 for 1970, 1, for 1971 and so on, followed by a letter, either an E for the Los Angeles plant or a B for the Hamtramck plant followed by the six digit seies number. One of my 1970 Challengers is stamped 0E118139, for example. That car is stamped with that on the top right of the core support. My other Challenger is stamped on the rear right of the core support. Also, you will find exactly the same stamp on the cowl panel on the driver's side. Other wise, look for the VIN sticker on the driver's door for ther complete VIN. Unfortunately, the whole VIN is not stamped anywhere on car. It only appears on the fender tag(s), the door VIN sticker and the dash VIN plate.
