Latest build date?

Postby JH23HOB » 26 Sep 2004 6:13

Does anyone know what the latest build date is? My car has a late build date. It's July 30th. Any info would be appreciated.

I know of a few cars with that date, it would be the last day of production for the 1970 model year. The highest Challenger VIN I have on record so far is a Challeger R/T ending in 440793.

Is there anything odd about the car? Some of the late cars have odd options, like they were trying to use some parts up before the new model year.

Barry,
Thanks for the info. I kinda figured it was the last day of production. My last 6 are 440443. I was hoping it might have been the last one built. It's a numbers matching car with the build sheet. It's coded Y14 as a sold car. Whoever special ordered it just barely got it built in time. It's EF8 green, no vinyl top, black interior, with a split bench and column automatic. It has a white tail stripe, but I now think that it was added later since it's a V98, which I think is stripe delete. It's an A66 car but the original tire sticker in the door jamb says F70-14. And the biuld sheet says W11, which my book says is 14 inch deluxe wheel covers. I thought all A66 cars came with 15 inch rallye's? Anyway, If you want more info, just let me know.

Thanks

TheChallenger 340 Performance Package - A66 - came with the R/T hood, Rallye suspension, 11" drum brakes, Tail stripe (V9_ 8 meaning deleted), Scat Pack decals in the rear quarter windows, Goodyear Raised White Letter F70-14 tires and a 26" radiator. I think it may have come with the R/T rear valence and dual exhaust with the chrome tips as well.

I have not heard of your car before, the closest VINs I have on file to yours so far are JH23H0B440400 and JS23V0B440642. I am trying to record every known 1970 car from the Hamtramck plant, so if possible I would love to know more about it. A photo copy of the broadcast sheet would be great. Did you just find one broadcast sheet? There can be as many as five in each car, and they do not always match, so I try and ask everyone. :D

Barry,
I will send you copies of what I have so you can add it to your registry. I am trying to decide what to do with this car. I can't decide to keep it original or not. I sure like the feel of a strong 440! But I hate to change a numbers matching 340 car. Decisions, decisions!

Cool, I will keep an eye out for the information.

Save the numbers matching motor and put one in you can play with without fear of blowing it up. That is what I am doing with my T/A. :D
