Non-R/T 383" cars

Postby Christer » 08 Sep 2004 12:32

I can´t remember that I have seen any producion figures on these cars?
How many were made? Can you please help me to kill my curiousity?
383" 2bbl base Challengers?
383" 4bbl base Challengers?
383" 2bbl SE Challengers?
383" 4bbl SE Challengers?

Since I am a great fan of sleeper cars, I find it cool that you could beat the slowest R/T cars with the hottest Non-R/T. Or could you do that? A R/T is heavier than a base Challenger in nine out of ten cases, I guess!? With optional gears in the rear, it would have been possible for a base Challenger to beat the slowest R/T !?

Was the 383"HP a R/T only option?

The only production numbers available are here;
http://challenger.mpoli.fi/phpbb/viewto ... 4361#14361

The JH23N cars are listed which are the 4bbl versions of the 383. The 2bbl versions had lower compression I think?

Christer I have following production No (and No in Sweden)
se attached pdf document. Note production figures are very unsure and I think it will be some reactions on them. That is anyhow what i have.

Until today I have 456 Challenger's identified in my swedish register and out of them has 70 been exported or scrapped. I miss some new imports, if someone has information of "swedish" Challenger's please drop me a line.

Thanks PeO. That gives me the following table:

1970 383" 2bbl base Challengers? 3296 (+16 Deputy Challengers)
1970 383" 4bbl base Challengers? 1602 (+6 Deputy Challengers)
1970 383" 2bbl SE Challengers? 1306
1970 383" 4bbl SE Challengers? 814

How about a chat over a beer sometime, PeO? September is a rather hectic month for me, but I will for sure be thirsty when that month is over :)

Christer,
Sounds nice, I will also be out of town until October (going to US for some vacation and celebration my half century of living). You have my mail under profile or below.
I should also like to see you car “live” and get some more info to my register.

I will drop you a mail in the end of October or beginning of November. We will move to another garage in the middle of October, so I have a lot to do until that is finished. Mabe we can meet up in my new garage?
