would like to know the production figures on my car

Postby 240 » 13 Apr 2004 1:09

I just bought a 1972 Hemi Orange Challenger Rallye with a 318 ci 2 bbl v8. It also has the A-904 tranny, but the car is a JS23. Does anyone know how many of these were produced?

As far as I'm aware there is NO JS23 in 1972.

1972 Challenger 318 = 15,175 I'm pretty positive but someone prove me wrong as I don't want you thinkingbhese are correct until someonne else concours. 8)

These numbers were never kept by Chrysler, the numbers are close estimates. The sad thin is if we ever want to know exactly how many cars were built with what for an example:

1970 Plum Crazy 340 Cuda A/C, 6-Way seat, Vinly Seats, Rallye cluster etc

We'd have to get every 1970 340 Cuda next to each other in a big field go through each cars options then brake them down from there......so as you can see it's highly unlikly we'll ever know the true figure of cars made.
It's easy when there are 1 of 1 cars or 5 of 5 etc becuase the are usaully counted for and probably have all bee in the same car park. 8)

Hope this helps in some way......

Oh dear dear dear dear me. I should knock your heads together! :)

First of all. There is a section on this board for production number information. In that section you will find all the production numbers we know of.

Find it here http://challenger.mpoli.fi/phpbb/viewto ... 4361#14361

Second. Yes there were JS23 cars built in the 1972 model year. It was 1973-74 that they built only JH versions. So there!

Well this makes a change from me making the mistakes!

Oh. And remember when looking at those numbers that there were three engines available in the JH that year ond only two (318 and 340) in the JS so you should be able to figure it out.

LOL!!! My bad, I got confused with thinking JS = R/T

But as you'll see I was never 100% sure and told him to wait for someone else to reply. :D
