You sure that is not a 'G' for 318?

Sometimes mistakes are made when stamping these things.

You do not say if your car has or had a 318 fitted. If so it should indeed be a 'G'.

I had the same problem. I my car it looks more like a ´C´ rather than a ´G´.

Tip: Compare the plate on the front inner fender with the plate on the left side of the instrument panel and the plate of the backside of the drivers door. It´s not likely that the text is vague in all these places.

I can't quite figure out your sentence Alan. What exactly are you asking?

The sequence number is on the end of the 13 digit VIN. At the start of each year of production after the summer holidays it is reset at each plant to 100001. Then every car coming down the production line gets numbered after that. Each production line had a number of different models coming down it at any one time though. You might have 6 Challengers and then 6 Barracudas. Four door sedans followed by two door hardtops. Each got it's number in turn. So you can't tell from that number how many Challengers were built before yours for example.

Oh well. It means yours was the 207,162th car down that production line that model year. I have never seen a sequence number that high before. What is the build date for it and which plant was it?

Don't listen to me. My brain sometimes plays tricks on me. I have plenty of examples of sequence numbers that high from the Hamtramck plant.
