Dave this is Jeremy I have a 70 Challenger SE. I have had the car for several years and just don't know that much about it so any information you could give me would be very useful. Somethings like how many were made were I could find parts what colors the inside's of the cars were what size motors came in them. Just things like that. My e-mail address is jtab03@hotmail.com

Hello Jeremy.

The answers to all your questions are right there on my web page. Just read the 1970 section and it tells you how many were made and what engines were available and what trim the SE came with etc.

If you want specific information about your car and do not want to work out the details yourself from the options listed on my web page then please write out your Fender Tag codes for us to de-code them for you. Be sure to write them out line by line just as they look on the tag.

Myself or one of the good folk who read this board every day will then be able to work out exactly what your car had when it was new.

I'll be happy to help out - I just had knee surgery and it may be the only way I can keep my hand in the game right now.

well heres my tag no.

E72
TB5 R22 V6X YO5 Z6
V1G H51 M31 N41 N42
EF8 HRX9 000 919 S45071
E86 D32 JS29 VOB
12950

I wrote this on a cramped piece of paper. the only one im not sure of is the "12950" is it on a line by itself or is beside the "VOB"? Anyway, here it is...Now you all can tell me if its common or rare and worth buying.

There is a conflict there VON. E86 is the 440-4bbl engine. A six pack would be E87. The V in V0B means 6-pack. A 440-4bbl would be 'U'.

So either you copied the VIN number down wrong and confused the U with a V or something is wrong with the tag. Seeing as you copied down the radiator size as Z6 instead of 26 I think that mixing up the U for a V is the most likely thing.

So not as rare but still worth having and if you do as good a job on it as you did your other Challenger it will be a show stopper.

What sort of grain has the vinyl top got? It is coded for Gator grain which is quite rare.

E72 ghould read EN2 and TB5 should read N85 in that place on the tag as well since an R/T of any kind had a tach.

The vinyl top had been totally torn off so i dont know. Would it matter if the VIN said JS29VOB also? Or is there still a conflict?

If you wrote E86 down correctly then the VIN has to be JS29U0B which is a 440-4bbl R/T SE.

E86 = 440-4BBL
D32 = AUTO
J = CHALLENGER
S = R/T
29 = SE
U = 440 4BBL
0 = 1970
B = HAMTRAMCK PRODUCTION PLANT
12950 = SEQUENCE NUMBER BUT YOU HAVE ONE DIGIT MISSING

EF8 = DARK GREEN METALLIC
HR9X = LEATHER SEATS-BLACK
000 = DOORS DON'T NEED PAINT BECAUSE THE PLASTIC COVERS THEM
919 = PRODUCTION DATE - 19TH SEPT 69
S45071 = ORDER NUMBER

V1G = GATOR GRAIN GREEN VINYL TOP
H51 = POWER BRAKES
M31 = STAINLESS STEEL BELT & HOOD MOULDINGS
N41 = DUAL EXHAUST
N42 = CHROME EXHAUST TIPS
N85 = TACH
R22 = 8-TRACK TAPE/AM RADIO
V6X = BLACK SIDE STRIPE
Y05 = USA SPEC
26 = 26" RADIATOR
EN2 = END OF OPTION LIST PRODUCTION LINE TWO.

Nice car.

Very well done Dave. From that, I tend to believe the guy now. I think you have sorted out my flaws. That describes the car perfectly. probably wasn't a six pack. Thank you very much.

Next: I talked to a friend who has a paint and body shop here and he told me he found a car up north of me for USD $3,500. Its a project car and SUPPOSEDLY factory pink. but it has a dual cutout rear valance with it, no side pipes; they come out the back. 1970 model, I know its a factory 340 six pack 4-speed. its a dumb question but for it to be pink it had to be a T/A right? also was there ever a stripe that was the same for the T/A and R/T except for the letters? Or are both guys totally off. Supposedly it also has an R/T stripe down the side.This guy that told me this is not very smart about Mopars but the guy he got it from said he knew what he was talking about. Between this car and the RTSE I would like this car better and it would be only half as much.

Any car could be pink, after a certain date. But only the T/A got a 340 six pack from the factory.

Post the numbers and we will tell you what is what.
