Fender tags are read from BOTTOM to TOP and not the normal way. They only make sense when read bottom to top.

E55 : 340-4
D34 : TorqueFlite Trans 727
JS23 : Challenger, Rallye, 2dr hardtop.
H2B : 340, 1972 model, Hamtramck production plant.
190579 : 90579th car down the production lines there.

EV2 : hemi orange
B6X : Vinyl bucket seats, but there should be a W for white or 9 for black after it or a color like B5 blue to indicate the color of the seats.
000 : Full door panels
AO5 : protection group (Vinyl insert body side moulding, bumper guards (f&r w/rubber inserts), door edge protectors)
143171 : Dealer order number.

VIW : full vinyl roof white
U : USA build specification
B51 : power assit breaks
C16 : console
C56 : Bucket seats
G11 : tinted glass

G37 : Left chrome race mirror / manual right
H52 : I am not sure what this one is. I would expect H51 (air con) on a Challenger. Help anyone?
J25 : Variable speed wipers with electric washers
J54 : 'sport' two scoop hood I think.
M21 : roof drip rail moldings
M42 : front end mold

N23 : electronic ignition
N41 : duel exh
N42 : crome duel exhst tips
N85 : tach
R11 : music master radio am

V5X : body side moulding
26 : 26" RADIATOR
EN2 : END OF OPTION LIST (production line two)

Ah! I missed that due to over exposure to wine before dinner. A05 is The build date as Mike suggests but A05 is November 5th 1971. It is always the build date before the order number. Yes I have had even more wine ok? hic!

				Oh! My head this morning!

Mike. Hamtramck had two production lines so the tag could end EN1 or EN2. At other smaller plants with only one line the tag ends END. It has nothing to do with shifts.

I like the orange/white color combination. Is the interior white?

This is the colour scheme I might have went for when I first got mine (mine had a white top and interior) only I didn't think it was pratical with the dog and the untidy young girlfriend I had at the time so I changed it to black. Black had been my first choice anyway but then I saw a film that had an orange GTO with a white top and interior and I thought it was very cool.

Maybe I will change the colour back to white one day.

B-november
C-december
Must have been a good bottle of wine?

Did I say November Mike? Talk about confusion! Yes. 'A' is October.

Yeah I had a hell of a head this morning. I have no idea what time my wife got into work but she had not even started getting ready when I left for work. I think I must have had most of one bottle and she had the rest plus a half bottle left over from the night before. I think I will stick to water until the weekend.

I agree with you, Dave, that a H51 code (rather than a H52) would make more sense . As far as I know Mother Mopar used the H51 code for air condition between ´69 and ´74.
