If it aint in the car you got a problem ! there is a remote chance that Galen Govier might have one, but I doubt it.
Haveyou checked all the usual places in the car, i.e. under the carpet, in the rear backrest springs and taped to the glove box liner? there is also a chance it is in the headliner

I think Govier does them to order & it was mention a few months ago in the MMA mag that Chrysler are starting to do a similar service to GG. Not sure if they do the build sheet but worth getting in contact. Let us know if they do.
Here's the bit about it from our mag:
CHRYSLER BUILD RECORDS
If you would like to find out more about your Mopar, such as its first registered owner, the Dealership it was shipped too, options, date of manufacture, etc., then contact the:
DaimlerChrysler Corporate Historical Collection
CIMS, 410-11-21, 12501, Chrysler Freeway, Detroit, MI 48288-0001 U.S.A.
Write them a nice letter with your questions and send $45. Mark the letter for the attention of Rosemary Lebryk.

D Historical won't have buildsheets for a 1970 mfg'd car. Their records only go up to 1967, the records after that year were destroyed.
You could also try with Gary at the online E-Body registry.
Moparts.com has a lost and found section too.
Very slim chance of finding it if it's not in the car.

It is possible to get reproductions but I have very strong views about being able to 'reproduce' important documents like this. I think it should be ilegal (and in some cases it may be) because it is too easy for people just to put what they want on there. You can then use that document to get a 'replacement' fender tag made. You see where I am heading?
I think the people that make these things should be tied to the back of a Big Block Mopar and dragged for a couple of miles.

I agree totally, I have had loads of Mopars without build sheets, they never went slower without one !

with that said dave, re the dodgy build sheets/fender tags, i've had several cars that i broke that i couldnt decipher the vin code on, in any books, maybe the guy making them had a hangover or something, thats not to say that the codes were all wrong, its just the vin didnt add up correct, i've also been offered cars that i couldnt make too much sense of, for eg, a dodge w200 (that i actually bought for myself) had a rediculous vin, it looked original so i cant say otherwise but the regular cab according to the vin was a crew cab, it was also supposed to be 2wd not w 4wd, the engine was correct as was other things, but then there were xtra numbers that added to nothing or that made it correct if you read it different !, it was ex usaf so perhaps they modified things but it all looked original !, what can yer do ??!!, sometimes they jut dont add up,

Oh yes there are. You just have to know where to look and who to ask. They don't advertise them. I have two names and addresses. One of them is very well known.

Hi, I recently purchased a 1971 challenger. I have all the option codes on the cowl tag, however there are a few codes I can't locate that are all letters, all numbers and a mix, also, there are no tire codes or suspension codes on the tags, it has two cowls tags. Can anyone help me find where i can crack these codes? I t would be much appreciated. Theresa

I'll decode them if you'd like. Either post them here or email me by clicking on my name above this posting. I'm on vacation right now and am happy to help out. Please type them in the same positions as they are on the tags, since the code and the position both mean something.

It is violation of Chryslers copy right on the form to reproduce it.

"Gee, fellas" he said innocently, "what well known, highly respected guy involved in our hobby would do such a dastardly thing as produce counterfi.... oops I mean REPRODUCTION fender tags and build sheets? That wouldn't promote building a cloned car that you could pass off as the real deal now would it? Imagine that, would you...." Being dragged behind a MOPAR is too good for him - use a foreign car.

Some options make a car a lot more valuable than it would otherwise be. It is not hard to forge a broadcast sheet to show options your car never had and then get a fender tag made. It is also not that hard to fake the VIN on the dash.
I could easily give you a pencil rubbing that shows that my car is a V-code 6-pack car. I already have the pink slip that shows it is so. I could send them a photocopy of my broadcast sheet as well. After is has passed through the imaging software on my computer of course.
This has been done many times. I have seen fender tags on cars on E-bay that are fakes for sure because the owners made mistakes about what would be on the tag and what would not. But a clever one would not be so obvious.
There was a 383 R/T on there last month that was an obvious fake. The VIN tag had been tampered with as well.
If people have an opportunity to screw you there are people out there that will. Being able to get a tag made is asking for trouble.

I am having trouble understanding the VIN tag on a 1970 Challenger RT I am looking to buy. The VIN code JH27H0B133452 says it is a Challenger. All the badges say Challenger RT. What is confusing me is the engine is a 340 4 barrel and documentation I have read states that 340 4 barrels were not available with Challenger RTs. Can anyone figure this out? Thanks, Jack

JH means it is not an R/T. You are also right that the 340 was not available in the R/T in 1970 but is was in 1971.
The 340 could be ordered as part of the '340 performnce package'. Challengers with this pakage look like R/T cars but mostly without the R/T badges.
Except for the convertibles. All convertibles have the same body shell be they R/Ts or not. For some reason when they came down the assembly line the 340 package convertibles got R/T badges as well.
Look for A66 on the fender tag:
Challenger 340 Performance Package (A66, N/A JH29 & R/T)
340 engine (E55), E60x15 inch raised white letter tires (U82), performance hood, HD brakes, HD suspension (S13), Bumble Bee paint stripe (may be deleted), Scat Pack (bee) decal, wheel lip moulding is deleted.

Did '70 Challenger R/T's come with the smaller 318 V8? If so, I think it would very silly for a Challenger to come with 198, 225, 318, 383, and bigger engines, but not a 340.

There were no small block 1970 R/Ts. In 1971 they included the 340 in the R/T because they already knew that Challenger production was ending soon and they were phasing out the big blocks for '72. So although the 340 was avalible in 1971 the 440 4bbl was not.

HA!
If you had looked up the message list you would have seen that 'Y ME' had posted this anyway. But since you were being a bit rude I have entered the name of that company in my list of naughty words.
If you want to fill the world with fake cars and rip people off then go ahead. But don't expect me to help you. The fact you do not use your real name shows you have something to hide.
