Hi,
Here are the fender tags of my two Challenger projects. I have already decoded most of them but there are few I'm having trouble finding.
Car #1 is a 1970 Challenger WSS
V1W V5X 26 END
H51 M21 M25 M31 N95 R11
V1W A63 A91 C16 C55 G34
FK5 H6K4 000 203 xxxxxx
E44 D31 JH23 G0E xxxxxx
This is my first car and I have owned it for about 4 years. It is about half finished it needs paint and bodywork.
Car #2 is also a 1970 Challenger
END
EK2 A63 C55 M21 M31 V5X
EK2 H6XW 000 904 xxxxxx
E24 D13 JH23 C0E xxxxxx
I recently bought this car with intention of parting it out, but I just couldn't kill a Challenger, even if is a Slant Six. It has heavy floor and rear frame rust from sitting outside uncovered for several years. I plan to turn the car into a 440-6, 4-spd R/T clone. Its definately a labor of love because it needs floor pans, trunk floor, 1 complete rear framerail, inner fenders, quarters and some small patches in the window channels. I'm going to school to learn bodywork and this is my project.

Thanks guys! Wow I was suprised when it showed my second car had a white interior, it is black vinyl and gray cloth right now, looks like and old trim shop job. I was also suprised that the car is a six with high impact paint. I can't wait until both are finished and parked next each other. I will have the best of both worlds, a sharp 318 cruiser and 440 Six Pack bruiser. Oh, by the way, when did 70' Challenger production start? And I also forgot, when I pulled the tag off of the 225 car, there was another small tag underneath it, about 1/4" wide and totally unreadable, any thoughts?

Yeah. I'm still thinking of Hans with his finger in a dyke. (It is a type of damn - behave!)
'70 production started in August 1969.
Don't know what the other tag would be.

Hey that means my car was built on the 9th day of Challenger production, hmmm, not quite a pilot car, but it could of been the 1st Challenger on the lot that sold it, mayber that is why it is 225 car with high impact paint. Finding stuff out like that is cool.

Thanks Mike. Looking at the low sequence number I would doubt there would be many cars built with a date before that one! I have a feeling i have a magazine article about a very early Challenger someplace but don't have time to look for it.
Remember that all types of chryslers were coming down the three production lines Challengers were born on. They were always done in batches of similar cars.
I would guess they produced small batches of each model to start with and built up to full production speed gradually. Just a guess though.

I have a feeling they have a two week factory holiday before production on the new model year. Not sure though.

I got some information about a car with an exciting chassienumber.
(Maybe we are thinking of the same car, Dave?) The number is JS29R0B100015!!!!
The car was owned by Larry Bell in 1992, (maybe he still ownes the car?)
and it is a Hemi R/T-SE Challenger. The car is red with a black vinyl roof.
It has a shaker hood that one of the first owners mounted on the car.
On the fender tag, there is the text "Job number 12".
That identifies the car as a pilot car (a car built before serial production started).
According to all known sources, this is the first Hemi Challenger built!
Yes, the car looks VERY nice on the photos in my magazine!
