Differences in Rear Sail Panel Inserts

Postby cv70chall » 12 Dec 2012 14:27

I recently purchased some replacement inserts for the sail panels and found them to be different than the originals. Apparently, there was a chance to these panels from 70-74.
Anyone have more data on this?

If you can re-use the originals that would be better anyway. They don't have to look pretty as you can't see them under the headliner as long as they sit flush enough.

But those replacements are shocking if they are supposed to be replacements. They look nothing like the originals. But my car was a early 70 like yours.

At some point they stopped using those. My 73 didn't have any. Maybe they did away with them when they changed the headliner material in 73. If I were you, I'd use your originals as a pattern and cut the new ones to the correct shape.

That's my plan- to try to use the originals, although they aren't in the best shape.

Why use tattered originals? Use them as a pattern and cut the new cardboard to match.

I meant to use them as templates to make nice newbies.
