The Family Curse Continues...

Postby cv70chall » 29 Oct 2012 12:31

I had feared having to do this, but if it doesn't get done right- then there is no use in doing it at all.
After realizing my Brother In-Law had installed my new Goodmark floor pans (all 4) over the old damaged floor- WITHOUT REMOVING IT!!!- I decided it was time to get into the nasty and cut the new floors out so the old ones could be removed in order for the new ones to be reinstalled properly.
Fact is, the floor pans were so badly mounted- there was a good 1 inch gap between them- making installing seats impossible. (The dumbass tried to "bang the new floor pan downward to make it kind-of fit)
If that wasn't bad enough, the seatbelt nut was not even lined up- and the bolt was simply threaded into the sheet metal - which would have meant injury for sure had it been needed.
I've removed the driver's side and will be tackling the passenger side next week. I've decided to re-purchase the front pans, as they have been hacked during the install, although the rear pans were in-tact and able to be re-used properly.
Stay tuned for more progress...

Just ridiculous. Needless to say, he gets a "real special" Christmas Card this season.

Notice the wood screws. There were actually 8 of these holding the pan. There were only 3 spot welds.

Yup. Completely ridiculous- especially when it would have only taken him a few more hours to get it RIGHT.
This kind of half-assed crap just makes me cringe.
Add to that- the safety aspects, too.
Thanks for the support guys- I'll get this thing done right.

This weekend (and next) will be spent removing the replacement floors (that dumbass installed incorrectly), removing the original floors and prepping to install the new floor pans.
It's amazing the corners that some people cut when doing things like this! I could NOT sleep at night knowing I did work like that on a car that someone else was driving, plain and simple!
Do it right or don't do it at all!

No, I wish. The lift is at the shop where we're doing the work.
