71-74 Seat Tracks

I noticed that in the 71-74 challenger seat tracks, the connecting cable is no longer used. How does this track stay locked in place if only half of it is actually locking?
Are these tracks stable?
i'm thinking about using these in my 70 due to costs and want to make sure they're just as stable as the older models.

Thanks

I've only had experience of 72 seats cos thats whats in there, can't see why it won't work as long as the mounting studs between sears and tracks are in the same location

I think on my 73 only one side of the seat locked. On the 70 models both tracks locked with a wire activating the other track. Not sure when they switched to only one track locking.

So, your tracks perform fine even though only one side locks? I;m going with newer tracks on my 70 and want to make sure they work fine.
Thanks

They DID perform fine that way as I recall. I took those seats out 4 yrs ago and have them sitting in my garage. The inner side was free and the only "catch" mechanism was on the outside. That was when I had 73 seats. I have 70 style seats now and both sides ratchet or catch using the wire rod to actuate the inside track. That was one of the first things I noticed about the 70 seats was that both tracks worked. I recall thinking how much Dodge sought to cut costs after 70 on the cars...that one is not the only example of pure cost reduction. You really notice those things when you make a 70 clone like I did.
