Console clock?

Postby rockanimal » 28 Nov 2011 21:47

Hi everybody! Found this picture on ebay. Is that a clock or what? I've never seen it before. My first thought was that someone installed it themselves but apparentely the car is a survivor so that made me wonder. Just curious to see if anyone knows. Here's the auction:

Could it be a period accessory or probably a dealer fitted one?

My best guess is an ashtray taken from another car. Maybe the owner thought that the buit-in ashtray was a bit far away, so he decided to install one at a closer distance? That makes sence to me, but I can´t be sure of course. I have never seen a car looking like this before.

Yes, it might as well (or more likely...) be a clock from another car. I didn´t realize that at first.

From the sales ad: "Original everything except batt, plug wires, valve covers, exhaust, coil and air cleaner."
I can add wheels, floor mat (?), radio, loudspeakers and brake cylinder cover to that list. Maybe you can call the car a survivor in some sence, but it is not a 100% virgin for sure.

Yes that looks like some sort of clock. Probably from another make of car completely. Not factory or dealer installed.
The Dave giveth and the Dave taketh away.
