Rear interior door panel

Postby gregvega » 25 Jan 2011 3:18

I have a set of brand new after market rear door panels for my 70. I bought them a few years ago from yearone for my resto and just took them out to install. They are made by dash top, which seem to be the only supplier everywhere. They dont have the 3 counter sunk mounting holes at the top of the panel. Also it doesnt have the bracing in the back like the originals. Will these work, anyone use these and are there any other venders?

As far as I know there is only one manufacturer of these parts and the examples I have seen are not as nice as original panels. Although to be honest most people at shows will never notice.

A mate of mine bought a pair for his Hemi Cuda but they were not good enough for him on his high dollar car. So he sold them to another mate of mine who installed them in his car and they look great!

Sure if you are picky, and know what you are looking at, you can tell they are not the real deal. But they look damn good to most people and made a big difference to his car.

I know of a vendor called Palto, whose products are usually badmouthed on moparts (bad fit, nowhere close to OEM looks, etc.).

There's at least another vendor who's been around for years, with fit problems also.

Another firm has started reproducing these last year, started out with cuda panels in black, and then moved on to Challenger panels, colors. I don't know if they're on to rear panels here.

The firm is called Metro parts, there's a big topic on this on moparts in the New products category.
