Door Panel Armrest Inserts

Postby patrick » 04 Feb 2010 5:57

Hello gang! :)
I just purchased a nice set of armrest inserts off ebay. My door panels were replaced by the previous owner, years ago. The armrest inserts were never put back on. He used a vinyl tape to cover the steal, underneath. My concern was, the eventual wear and tear on the armrest pad. The inserts I got are steal with a factory vinyl in the hand grip area. :D My question is: Did the 72-74's come with plastic inserts? It just seems like, I had plastic ones in my 73 Cuda'. I think I remember one having been cracked. :?

Yes, they switched over to plastic sometime around then. My 72's were plastic. I have one steel and one plastic, as my drivers side door was replaced after an accident sometime in the misty past of the car.

Thanks for the reply's! :D I found my own answer after posting this. When I ordered these inserts, I only stumbled on them. You know, always looking... In the past, whenever I bidded on them, I let it go because everyone is so damn proud of them. $$$$ They don't reproduce them yet. At least the steel ones, that I know of. I checked ebay last night and, there's a crap load of them. :? None as good as the ones I purchased, though. This Canadian seller has a bunch, full of rust and the plastic ones are flakey or cracked. The metal ones are pricey . Year One could make a mint reproducing these things.
