Back seat belts

Postby rockanimal » 30 Jul 2009 22:10

Hi! I'm wondering how long the original seat belts for the back seat should be in an E-body? The Pontonier type with P 535 male ends. They seem to have been made in different lengths since I think they were used in A, B and C-bodies too.

And if anyone knows where to find a pair (male ends only, I already have the buckles) for the back seat I would be a very happy man!!!

Thanks!/Robert

You did not mention what model year?

These are the part numbers for the standard 1970 rear belts if that is what you are looking for.

My rear set did not come with the car when I bought it, so.....

If someone sends me a set (in black) I would gladly measure them. :D

Hi again! Jon, they look great the way you have them and that's the way I always thought was correct but now I'm a bit confused. I found rear seat belts at a restorers home that I could buy from him but they have this rubber wrap on them (see e-bay reference picture) and he says that's how E-bodies looked in 1970's rear seat, to prevent the belts from slipping under the seat. I always thought the rubber wrapping came in later year E-bodies or A, B or C-bodies? The guy also said that E-bodies should have belts for THREE people in the rear seat and I'm pretty sure that's NOT the case...?

If anyone else would have said this to me I would have disagreed but this guy really knows A LOT of old Mopars and has a bunch of cars ('69 Hemi Charger, '69 383 Barracuda, '71 Hemi GTX, '70 440 Charger, '70 Charger resto project, '70 Newport...), and also have a resoration shop ONLY for Mopar cars which is very unusual in Sweden. So anyway, that made me uncertain about this and that's why I want to know before buying the belts.

Does anyone know the what's correct? Jon? Alaskan TA?

/Robert
