Heater box install

Postby Chris » 12 Mar 2009 23:21

Hi, I'm putting the heater box back in my car and since i didnt take it out i'm not sure how it is supported. Its just the heater no air and the only bolts i can see for support are the three for the blower motor to the firewall. Pictures would be a big help. Thanks.

There is also a "J" bolt, it goes in with the hooked part up. You can see part of it at the right side of this image;

That blend-air piece in the article enlightened me. Huh, and here I was thinking I was going to have to get a valve for my heater hose. Turns out I only had a valve for the A/C

I tried to see where that hook could attach and i dont see anything to hook it too and the heater box seems loose with just those three bolts through the firewall at the blower motor.

It looks like it is hooking to a tab on the dash frame?

Maybe the tab is missing from mine because there is nothing close to it. I guess i will have to fabricate some kind of bracket to support it better.

I pulled it out again and found that the j hook was bent down into the vent hole. Of course when i went to bend it back the plastic that supported it broke off. Anyway i fixed it with some metal strips and will try to fit it back in, thanks for the help, heres some pictures of the hook in case someone else needs them.
