My 71 R/T has the H5XX Black and White Houndstooth interior, the previous owner told me when he restored the interior, the original door trim panels had the carpeting on the bottoms like the 70 SE's. He could not get those door trim panels for the car, so he put on the regular black door trim panels. Has anyone seen this before? Did they put carpet on the bottom of certain door trim panels on 71's? Does anyone else own a Houndstooth car with carpeted lower door trim panels?

All 1970 Challengers with leather seats or vinyl seats with the cloth inserts got carpeted lower door panels and rear seat ashtrays, SE models or not.

I do not know for sure if that continued for 1971 though.

Thanks, Now, does the carpet on the bottom have a red reflector on it toward the rear of the door.
