So the real question of this thread is;

Why is my button (shown in the photo) chrome(ish)?

Is it just an early example? (sept '69 build date)

Is it just a black one with the paint rubbed off?

Is it from another model?

They should all be BLACK. I checked my Challenger & Barracuda resto book and it has heaps of e-body photos and ALL the 1970 ball shift slap-stik shifters are black, if there doing it in resto books who better to follow?
