gday guys
will a 150 mph speedo out of a rallye dash fit in place of the 120 mph std dash speedo coz even my 318 is going to be capable of more than 120 when ive finished it & i like the asymetrical look so i wont to stay with the std dash

Im not a expert guesser like Dave, but looking at pictures of the 2 I would say no, since the housings are completly different, and they molded different.

They aren't even close. The one in the rallye dash is a different size, and it is angled differently, as spitfire9137 said. You'd have to switch the whole assembly for a rallye dash, or get an aftermarket speedometer and mount it up somewhere.

I'm still trying to get over the thought of a little 318 pushing a car as un-aerodynamic as the Challenger to over 120mph.

My 1st car was a 74 Plymouth Scamp w/318 2bbl and I could bury the needle @120! If it was accurate all stock!LOL
It must be nice to have those highways over there as you'll get arrested here for doubling the speed limits..55 sometimes 65

Dont you make fun of 318's! Heck, quite a few new cars can hit a buck twenty these days even with four-bangers. My buddy has an underpowered station wagon that still makes 110, albeit with the engine screaming like crazy. A hot-rodded 318 is just right for me. I can drive it everyday because it gets ok gas mileage and I still have power when I need it.

It is not the engine. It is the 4000lb brick of a car that is the problem. But I was teasing a bit. Sorry.

it looks like ill be staying with the 120 mph speedo then but yes dave im quite confident itll do more than that ive had smaller motors in cars just as heavy & un aerodynamic that were good for 125+ & 1 of them was stock

OK OK! I could do 120-130mph (on the speedo) in my stock 318 powered Aussie Charger. But taking into account that most stock speedos indicate 10%-15% higher than real speed it was probably going a fair bit slower than that.

Just as well really beause with all the worn steering joints it tended to bounce from lane to lane on the slightest bump in the road!

I used to call it "Hunting for Minis to pounce on".

yea dave quite a few of the aussie chugga's got that way i think it had something to do with the way they got treated
