Help I can't seen to figure out why the door opens OK from Outside the car but am having problems opening from inside. :disbelief:

I had a similar problem on mine. It turned out that one of the screws holding the latch to the door had vibrated out. I just replaced the screw and it is fine now.

A worn bottom hinge (like that NEVER happens in a B or E body!!!) can contribute to this as well.

Thanks but the Passenger side is worse? So a hinge doesn't seem likely. The rods seem to be connected ok. Both hinges seem ok door doesn't move excessively.. Anyone else? HELP!

gday
usually the reason for this is the door has dropped if the door is not to low then try lowering the striker
because when you open the door from the outside you tend to lift it slightly even without realising it but this doesnt happen when opening from the inside
cheers ian

Could there be a rod connecting to the interior handle that has become bent?

I have been having the same problem. The door opens fine from the outside but the inside handle will not engage the latch. I took the door panel off to look at it, and the inside door handle does not engage the latch all of the way. You need to take the latch out of the car and clean it.

Thanks everyone sounds like the latch is not engaging. Could be a bent rod though. All the original cloth is still there on the rods I'll have to investigate further.. Thanks again. It's the little things that kill you. Rebuild an engine easy open door hard!

Haha, same here. The whole car gets taken apart and put back together, and a frickin door handle holds ya up for a week or so. That's a good idea about straightening the rod, becase they do have unnecessary bends in them from the factory. I wish I had thought of that before I took it all out to clean it. Same result, more work. Doh.
