console conversion, auto to 4-speed

Postby mopr2ya » 25 Mar 2006 20:32

As I understand it, the 4-speed e-body console was converted at the factory from an automatic console. I have a 71 automatic console that I am converting to 4-speed. I have the insert but need a template or measurments to cut out the hump area on the inside(close to the drivers seat.) The automatic cutout area is a very basic rectangular area. The 4-speed cutout is more complicated. Please advise...much apreciated!

I thought the 4-speed console was a different part number. :?

I think too. The Interchange manual also says the same thing - Different part numbers on the base depending on if it is a manual or an automatic transmission. I think the only difference is that one of the openings (not sure which one) is a little bit wider (direction from door to door).
