Tach question

Postby Matt6767 » 23 Feb 2006 5:23

i recently bought a Tach on ebay, it said it was for a '70 challenger RT so figured it was the right one..and it looked in good shape. Well when it arrived i noticed that it only went up to 7,000 RPM and the one that is in my car goes up to 8,000 RPM, was this Tach for a diffrent car or diffrent year? Anybody know what im missin here??

Thanks Matt

Different year my friend! the later models went only to 7000 RPM. I believe only the 70 year model came with a 8000rmp tach, as they had other differences unique to that year – such as, reset odometer and clock nobs came right through the plastic face on the 71-74.

The tach you have would work fine, but would not be correct for any 1970 car.

I never knew they changed the tach after 1970.
