Overhead console operation?

Hello, I was just curious on how the overhead concole lights are suppose to operate. When the ignition is turned on should all three lights light up or just the door ajar and seat belt? If the key is not in and the ignition switch is not on when you open the door should the door ajar light go on? And one more, how low does the fuel have to get for the low fuel light to work? Thanks I hope someone can clear this up for me. later

Don't know about everyone else, but I've never even seen an overhead console - any chance of posting a pic?

A friend of mine in the early 80s had a Barracuda Gran Coupe. If I remember correctly the console lights worked when the key was in the on or acc. position. I think the seat belt light was on some kind of timer and went off shortly after the car was started. (Probably a heated bi-metallic strip or something.) The low fuel light came on at about an eight of a tank.

The seat belt and door ajar work off of the Keylight Delay Relay. Check that first. Its attached to the harness above the radio...littlew silver cannister type relay. good luck finding one! The door opens regardless of the key position and lights the two lights. The low fuel works off a relay near the glove box and is anyones guess when that thing comes on.....

everything is fairly correct above-

the low fuel is driven by a special relay that senses when the fuel is around 1/8 tank and turns on the light- it gets it;s power not from the 5 volt limiter but from a separate 12 volt power source and then sends the signal to the gauge.
