Changing Seat Covers Info Needed

Postby vanishingchallenger » 27 Jan 2014 22:43

Hello all,
I want to change my plain black R/T bucket and rear seat covers to the black with houndstooth /salt and pepper inserts. Does anyone know if I would need to change the seat foams or would it be a straight swap ? Alternatively if anyone has the style interior I'm looking for and would like to swap interiors then that could be an easier option.
There is nothing wrong with my interior, in fact its a crime to take the originals off but its not what I want for this car.
Thanks, Dean.

The seat foams are the same. Probably in a poor state if they are the originals. Watch they don't fall to bits.
The Dave giveth and the Dave taketh away.

The buns are different in Legendary interiors catalogue gents. The patterns of the seams are very different and you would likely have problems making the houndstooth style work w std RT style buns. You have to pull the flaps on the cover's main seams thru the foam and hog-ring to the frame to create the crisp definition needed. And, you pull them thru at the pre-made lines in the foam buns. This is how legendary interiors install techs coached me to do mine and turned out great. I did regular RT style but same process would be used for other styles, you just need right buns to start though.

Here are my seats and they look better than 90% of the high end show cars I see at Mopar nats or Chryslers at Carlisle shows in my humble opinion. I personally dislike when the seat covers are loose w wrinkles and there is no definition at the seams - factory did not do that. just my 2 cents worth anyway

Thanks for the input guys. If I could find someone who wanted to swap the complete set of seats for there ones then that would be a lot easier. I've just got to find that person now.
