2" drop spindles from PST

Postby Eddie » 17 Aug 2011 17:39

http://www.p-s-t.com (hit chrysler then drop spindles) has new 2" dropped spindles for 70-74 E-Bodies. I want to use the 11.75 rotors, but cant seem to find any chrysler caliper adaptors, been looking and e-mailing different parts suppliers and private parties for a few months now. I would like to know what 'side' effects this would pose? I am thinking get the spindles, Mancini Racing 11.75 caliper adaptors, Viper Calipers which I can get used for around 700.00 bucks for a pair, Cordoba rotors which are cheap at less than 80.00 bucks new from NAPA for the pair. My concern is the droppped stance, any tire rubbing, brake line problems, weird suspension geometry changes? I plan on using my 15" Cop Car wheels until I can save up for some nice wheels like Drew or Dave used to have on his. ect all advice welcome!! Thanks

This is for the 72 right?...............then keep the existing spindles and use the Scarebird bearing adaptor or even the Scarebird kit for Viper calipers, but if you use them I'm sure you'll have to use a different m/cylinder to push all that fluid to the multiple pistons
I would'nt worry about the drop tho Edd, that Hotchkis set I've used has the front and rear down and it ain't caused me any probs or prevented me from getting alignment............looks cool too :s004: :D

Thanks Ade, yes the '72' I thought about doing that but I still would need the taller caliper adaptors right? I guess I could save the 440 bucks for the pst spindles and just use my own with the scarebird bearing spacer! Thanks for the insight on the 2' drop, appreciate it!

I thoiught Scarebird did a caliper mounting bracket for 70-72 spindles to Viper calipers
You might have to e-mail or phone the Scarebirdmen, I had some dialogue wiv 'em and they were very honest...........even told me to save my money and use the smaller disc and somne FirmFeel race pads :!:
Let me know if you try that bearing adaptor, I may do the same as you if it all works'
On another note, have you seen that new McCleod 5 speed box due for release? I hear Summit are already listing it at just over 2 grand :!:

I did Adrian, they replied back that they sell the bearing spacer for the 1 piece rotor. Thats all they sent me. Maybe I should have been more clear or just called em. I think I like the fact that the frontend would drop a bit and allow better steering and possibly braking. Plus they are all new. I also think that the 11.75 rotors combined with viper calipers would be really nice. Cheap rotors and pads might cost a bit,, I havent seen the McCleod gearbox yet,, for E-Bodies? 2 grand is very reasonable,,I looked at Summit's website couldnt find anything BUT it's on Mcleod website. From what I gather, it's a 5-Speed with an overdrive but I couldnt find the ratio, internal rail shifter, new gear mainshaft/countershaft support which according to mcleod can withstand 1,000 FT. Lbs., helical cut gears, replaces the stock MoPar 833 with no cutting. Sounds really nice! Oh and weighs approx. 85 Lbs.(they have a vid on youtube) Thanks Ade U made my head spin :s006:
