If the planets show me good favor I could be motoring midweek.
Adrian has gone to the parts guys with a monkey wrench to tune a few heads.

I tried to send this as a PM but it aint going through.
This might explain better why the rears they sent wont work. They sent us 1 off one side and 3 off the other side that house the parking brake cable with the funny ope but they sent none that house the short spring with the circular ope.

Here are the 3 amigos with the funny ope to house the parking brake. I tried to put em on the opossite side but the spring keeps slipping out because the ope is not circular and it wont catch in position.

you have one correct one and three wrong ones ,they all need to go back and and new set needs to be sent and looked at before shipping,
that spring holder area will slip off

Ok so this it the plan going forward. Ade is gonna post out the correct fronts and I will rebuild the old rears as there is enough meat on them to do for a while so I just need to refresh them clean em up, cooper grease etc. Have the new wheel cylinders all round and pop on the front shoes when they arrive..do a brake bleed and away I go.

Ok I got the passenger side front and rear done. have a look.
Mostly good news but some bad guys...The day was poxy...raining on and off all day..breezy and not very warm but I had a go anyway.
I thibk by the pics it went well however I had a spring give up the ghost so I will need a new one...bound to happen I guess..springs are old.
The I got as far as starting the drivers side rear and hit a problem...the bleeder was rung and I need to get a clear shot at the brake line nut....that was rung also, I guess it was attempted before...so I thought ok the aint acceptable so I cut the brake line and remove the whole thing...only way if you ask me...had to go...then as I got up to the other end of the brake line at the centre of the axle that nut was rung also...so yes it had to go.
I wrapped up for the evening as it started to rain.
Happy with todays work but I will start the search for the spring and the short section of brake line I hope likes of advanced pit stop will supply that type of brake line, what do you guys think anyway.

Yea looks like you got some work done, sucks when those fittings wont come loose it happens , you should be able to replace that one anyway, but it looks good and tidy for now, when you go back I am sure you will check your work again ,
sounds like we have the same shitty weather I was at Jims compound and it was quite chilly, and we had the wrong hoop for the roll bar so work stopped, and it is supposed to snow tonite,
so I know how it is working in the dank weather at................ least for now most moisture we have had in months,
Back to you Wayne......................

If a brake line nut is rounded off (is that what you mean?) then cut the pipe as close to the nut as possible so you can get a socket over it. Then that leaves you enough pipe to simply re-flare the end with a new nut.
Frost Restoration is your best UK based on-line resource for brake pipe, fittings and tools.

Cheers Drew, Im almost there mate,
I will check those guys out Dave, might need a length on new line as there was no much slack on the old one for a reflare.

Ok I have the brake line and the two connector ends and the wheel cylinders so I will take em to a brakes supplier and see if they can match the line and connectors and flare for a refit. fingers crossed.

Hey Cheers Adrian, I ve just been to a brakes specialist crowd and they have the brake line now probs and said they could flare it there for me also...now the thing is they tried to match up my connector nut ends to the wheel cylinder and they cant match it, also I tried to put the connector nut that goes from the central box that sits over the axle into the wheel cylinder and although they look alike they didnt quite marry I didnt force it as I didnt want to damage the threads..it could be dirt but I didnt force it as I said.
So Im left with a match on the brake line and flare issueis ok but I have rung connectors that I need to replace. So what to do??
Adrian do US Auto stock those fittings??

The fittings you need are imperial sizes. Modern and all European cars use metric so that is all that type of place will stock. So you need a restoration type place which is why I suggested Frost.
http://www.frost.co.uk/aumotive-brakes- ... tings.htmlBut if you know what you want you will find then cheaper on the internet and in the UK too.
