I remember my front drums being exactly like that is what I meant. The long cable over the curved guide and the auto adjuster hooking into a hole on the shoe with a spring pulling the adjuster over to the other side.

THIS is what the brakes should look like on a 1970 R/T fitted with 11-inch drums.

Front and rear brakes shown. I used this diagram many years ago when i seviced my own drum brakes and they looked exactly like this.

It is a scan I made from the 1970 workshop manual at the time. I just found it in a file stored on an old hard drive.

Have you checked both fronts Wayne? look at both to make sure you have'nt got a mis-match of parts already installed, will make things even more confusing As long as they are both the same then you gotta check all 4 new front shoes are useable, then decide if you want to modify them or send them back. Remember you still got the option of either modifying them or installing them without the auto adjuster, if that clevis pin is the only difference I would still drill them, won't take longer than 10 mins to do either side. I can't get to the parts place till mid week mate, then I still need to have a look at 'em before I pack 'em off

Yeah Ade mate the two fronts are the exact same...infact one of them, the front driver side ,the star wheel adjuster sat slightly off and isnt engaging the star wheel. so yeah the two fronts are the same. Hey it would be mighty kool of ya if you could source the correct ones and send em, I can send these ones back and all will be good, Im good for the wedge dude.

Yeah I saw the pic of the 1 with the adjuster adrift, little different from not having it there really. While we're waiting for the bits or whatever we do wiv'em you could shove it all back together with the new wheel cylinders and use it ok

Yeah the wheel cylinders as in the pic look mint mate....I can bang em on no probs....although I need to study the rear set up a bit more....hey can you guys tell me if both the rears are identical as I am unsure about the parking brake reassembly....The driver side rear is still intact I aint touched it yet...wanna be sure it goes back aok....

Of course both rears need to be identical. Just a mirror image from side to side.

The rears should be identical mate, just a bit busy in there cos of the parking brake assy, have the other side in the air and the drum off and you can reference it straight away, easy peasy pal

They are exactly the same by the looks of it?

The star wheel set up is the same but look at the lower spring position, different spring and location hole. The rest is the same so that appears to be the correct set up for a 70 R/T with drums.

I t looks like mine is missing the cable the goes from the top around to the right and connects the 2 shoes together

HUMM here is the rear and it has the missing cable,

man my eyes are getting bad it is there is is just hidden behind the other cables

Is that it bottom left of the drum by the axle stand.....could be wrong.

Ok bit of a disaster today, I started to rebuild the passenger side rear set up and got the WC in place and then started the shoe rebuild and some thing stumped me, first was the parking brake cable was a right fucker as it wouldnt sit on and the clip wouldnt rest right, so I made the hole a wee bit bigger and it worked a treat.

So I went to put my hand on the other shoe and the spring wouldnt match the hole..so I thought ok I have the wrong shoe so I got them altogether and bingo.....it seems I have 3 shoe off the same side and one off the other..the side I have houses the auto adjuster because it has the brass piece at the bottom and the upper spring wont sit properly because the hole is for the parking brake cable and not the spring...check the pics.... I use the old shoe to demo the correct way the spring should sit.

You got a badly packed lot of stuff there Wayne, I'm gonna hve to go to the parts w/house and tell 'em whats wrong and ask 'em to show me the rest of the stock. It should'nt be this hard mate

Actually we are pretty lucky cos we got three American parts suppliers within a 15 mile radius, although when even one is a wanker that does screw the average a bit don't it
