new wheels

Postby barryholledge » 22 Sep 2010 17:02

I would like some advice as i would like to change the wheels on my 71 Challenger RT. I would like to fit 8" x 17" with a 4 1/2" offset with either 235 or 245 tyres for the front. Is this possible?? or will it give me problems. Any help would be greatly apppreciated.

i have 17x8 inch wheels 4 inch off set with 275 tyre, the only thing i would be concerned with your set up is the off set 4 1/2 inches that half an inch will dictate how much tyre you can fit in there, i would go with 4 inch off set my self and be safe :D

tyres and alloys look great on your challenger but is there anyway of fitting them without rolling the arches. Could i not just use 235 tyres??

Humm i dont think so if you look at the fender edge its about 1/2 inch wide it stickes out pretty far,

yes 225,s look to fit but as soon as you back up forcing the wheel forward it will catch the lip and trash the fender( i did that too!) learned the hard way

,so its gonna be really close to fit those tires on there

,measure and see if a tire shop in town will mount one tire on a wheel and look and see if it fits, it might but dont count on it,

and also a 225 tyre will be really small and defeat the purpose of getting more rubber under the car
