Hard brake pedal?

Postby TAGibb » 11 Jul 2009 20:49

I am having a substantial problem getting my brakes to function properly (myself and the 2 different shops that have tried).

All components are now either new or rebuilt. The hydraulic system is fully bled, and the booster was just tested and is functioning correctly.

The problem is that without a lot of pedal travel, the brakes seem to bottom out, and the brakes are barely working (nearly impossible to stop the car.

Any idea of what might cause this? 5 months in this so far and a lot of duplicate parts purchased!

Are the flexable hoses new? Old ones can collapse internally and cause a problem like that.

how about the push rod that actuates the plunger it is adjustable, perhaps when things were assembled it might have changed that adjustment,it is adjustable i just did a master cylinder from wilwood just yesterday , and i had to adjust the pushrod and make a new piece to get the pedal i wanted, you might check it.

If you are not losing fluid I would say possibly a vacuum bleed off. Maybe check the lines, valves and the booster.
