Correct wheels?

I was wondering what wheels my car originally came with. the fender tag does not indicate any wheel option. I have read varied information on the correct sheels for the A66 cars. When I decoded the car the information I got that it came with 14" rallye wheels. I have also seen info that says these cars came with 15" wheels as part of the A66 package. So, I am fairly confused. The car has 15" chrome Magnum 500 wheels which look great but I am an originality buff so would at least like to have the factory correct wheels. Thanks for your input.

Originally, your car came with 14 inch Rallye Style rims. I was in the same quandry- as my car already has a sest of the 15 inch Magnum rims- which look great.
I decided to keep the Magnum rims on- seeins as they're larger- and purchased a set of 14 inch original Rallye Rims to have on the side.
I like the Magnum look better. Not original, but more striking.
I do believe they did offer an optional 15 inch Rallye Rim, but not on the 1970.
Dave would know for sure!

15 inch wheels.

The dealer brochure actually states 14 inch wheels but it seems to have been a miss=print.

Forgot to say. There was NEVER a 15 inch "Magnum" wheel fitted to Challegers. Only 14 inch.

There were only two styles of 15 inch available. Rallye and steel with dog dish hubcap.

15 inch Challenger wheels were only available 1970-72.

It would appear 15" wheels from the chart Dave posted. Maybe check with Barry (Alaskan TA) also.

Mine has the heavy duty suspension with .92 torsion bars and power brakes. Maybe that is a package you could follow up on for the rim size. :?

The 1970 Dodge Data book says 14" with the A66 package;

It seems like I remember something about that being changed to 15" later on in the model year, I will look......

Do you have a broadcast sheet for it? If so, it will tell you for sure what your car came with.

Edit;

Checking the broadcast sheets I have, they came both ways.

I have 5 on file with U82 tires & the "59" tire label in the door jamb. These were E60X15 RWL tires.

I have four on file with T87 tires & the "62" tire label in the door jamb. These were F70X14RWL tires.

I have one on with with T86 tires & the"62" tire lable in the door jamb. These were F70X14 WSW tires.

Near the bottom of this page;

http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/ima ... er0006.jpg

It shows the T86 14" white side wall tires standard with the 340 & the U82 15" tires available at extra cost.

No mention of the T87 tires there for the 340, but the fleet books were printed early in the model year, so they must have been added later.

So, time to check your broacast sheet & / or the original tire sticker in your driver's side door jamb to know for sure what your car came with.....
