missing emergency brake parts hardware

Postby rtse4406pack » 13 May 2008 2:32

i finally got a chance to take of the rear tires and drums to have a look why my emercency brakes dont work.
the passenger car side had just the cable there with no hardware at all. :roll: oh oh need hardware :s008: .the drivers side same story but at least it had the lever where the cable attaches to.
is it hard to find all the hardware to get my e-brakes working again or can i go to a local parts depot and get this hardware.
let me know.
attached is a photo of the drum brake hardware.i circled the stuff in red thats missing.
any opinions are appreciated.

Yike's! :shock: They really left you short in the parking brake department. Don't worry. You should be able to pick all these item's at your local N.A.P.A. store. Probably Shuck's, Car Quest. Any of those. :mrgreen: Pretty basic item's. :wink: I wonder why they left those out? :?
Good Luck, Pat

Great tip Pat! Danny are you wanting original parts? Dave/Pat or others would know more about this than I but maybe B-Body or other MoPar Parts would be the same and possibly help you get the correct factory parts?

hey ed,it does not matter to me if the brake parts in the drum are after market or original.as long as i get the emergency brake working.also i dont plan on showing my car with the rims and drums off the car :s009:

finally finished getting my hardware and setting up the e brakes for my 11" drums today. what an experience hunting for this stuff. first off bought 2 used struts for $15 at a canadian swap meet near barrie and one used bendix lever from ivan the mopar man in beaton ontario for $15. also finally today the special order springs and hardware came in from carquest who found all of the hardware from raybestos. the lady had to make a lot of phone calls before she found a warehouse that stocked the hardware for the 11' drum hardware kit.
it took awhile to get all this stuff together but now my brakes work like the original set up and best of all my emergency brakes work fantastic :nod: :thumbsup:
i also picked up an original service manual at the carlisle mopar swap meet that really helped me put this whole thing together
:biggrin: check out the photos i took before i finished them off.

Glad to hear it Danny. They look fantastic! Even the correct red paint on the drums!
