Brake Drum Sizing

My 1970 Challenger R/T has a non-original 8 3/4 rear with 11-inch drum brakes. I ordered an 11 X 2 1/2 inch replacement drum, and it is too wide. It will not fully seat against the axle hub. The machined area of the new drum is over 3 inches wide. My old drum only measures 2 1/2 inches wide. The brake shoes measure 2 inches across, not 2 1/2.

Year One only lists a 2 1/2 inch drum, and the local parts place sells the same one. Does anyone make an 11 X 2 inch replacement drum? Anyone have an idea what the problem is? Any help would be appreciated!

Bakerman,
Thanks for the info! Some more research on my part was done. I discovered that the "standard" size rear drums on a 1974 Monaco were 11X2, and that the 11X2.5 was listed as the HD upgrade (I assume for taxi and police service). These cars had 8 3/4 rears with the 5X4.5 bolt spacing. God only knows how these brakes ended up on my car!

It looks like the Y1 drum you mention is for that particular application, so I will call them and check on availability. Thanks again!!
