Frozen Upper Ball Joints

Postby MLMFLCN » 12 Jun 2006 0:20

Can anyone provide some help for removing upper ball joints from the control arms? I do not want to damage the control arms, but I am having a heck of a time trying to break them loose. Thanks,

You mean to unscrew the balljoint from the UCA?

First of all you need the correct socket that fits the top of the ball joint. You can't do without it. Available from places like Year One etc.

Then you need to soak the threaded part with wd40 every hour or so for a few hours.

Then you need the biggest breaker bar you can find with a 3/4 inch drive to fit the socket.

After that it is just down to physical strength.
