Caster Adjustments

I took my Challenger into the alignment shop last week to have more positive caster adjusted in. We started with 1 degree negative, that is why the car felt very twitchy at high speeds. I think this is the factory setting for bias tires.

All of the suspension components checked out tight but the most we could obtain was 1 degree positive. That is with .2 degrees negative camber.

We could possibly have dialed in another degree of caster but the camber would have been near 1 degree negative. The mechanic suggested this would wear the tires on the inside more that would be acceptable?

As it is now the car is much more stable feeling especially at freeway speeds. This is by far the best improvement to the cars handling I have tried. I think some offset upper control arm bushings are in order as 2-3 degrees positive was recommended by Dave in earlier posts and I would like to see if further improvements can be realized.

I have run one degree negative camber on my Challenger for years now with no sign of un-even wear on the tyres. Many cars run even more that that. You ever look at the rear wheels on a Porsche?

One degree neg camber really helps with controling understeer. Esp. on a big block.

If you can get 2 degrees +ve castor with the stock set-up that will be enough.

Thanks for the advice Dave. :D I will keep an eye on the tire wear. Will need new ones soon and am wondering the largest (width) without rubbing on the frame or fenders? I have stock 15" x 7" rims.
