#2537397 according to Paul Herd.

(70 Chargers, 70 Barracudas, 70 Coronets, 70 Darts, 70 Satellites and 70 Valiants used the same part number. AAR Cudas and Challenger T/A:s used #2948900)

I would rather people didn't do that with information that could be useful to the rest of us. Thanks. :)

I have an original steering box in storage at home. I will check the number on it.

thanks christer
thatll make it easier for me to source parts do you have an expanded veiw of 1 in those books of yours it may help me work out where the play is coming from as mine has a bit of play in the input shaft even when the motor is not running so i figure theres wear in the gears unless its a slack bearing

Have a search in this section. I am sure I have posted diagrams and adjustment instructions a few times before?

There is normally play on the input shaft when the engine is not running. The end play of the worm is adjusted with the end bearing I think and the mesh with the output shaft is adjustable.

Always go right through the full adjustment procedure, including centering the wheel exactly between full lock, before deciding if it needs re-building.

But even when new or re-built they are not great steering boxes.
