swapping disc brakes into my challenger from a charger?

I have a 1970 challenger with drums, and a 1966 charger that has power disc. I was wondering if I could do a complete swap here, giving the challenger the power discs and giving the charger the drums. is there anything i'd need to buy except new brake lines? would there be any fabrication required or anything that wouldn't interchange here? thanks.

If the 66 Charger steering knuckles are the same as the later 69 and 70 Chargers then i would say yes it is a direct swap.

how would i tell if their the same as the 69 or 70 or later? should I simply just try to fit them onto my challenger, and presuming they fit.. they should be correct right? sorry if that sounds stupid, but I'm new to doing this sort of work on cars, and just wanna get everything laid about before i start anything (considering the charger is my dads, and he's willing to let me take the disc brakes). thanks for the info!

It is my understanding from a couple of sources (including the Mopar Action article referenced above) that although B body (Charger) spindles will physically fit a Challenger, using them is not recommended because they are longer and will adversely affect the suspension geometry.

Am I wrong about that?

I think you miss-read that. E-body and B-body use the same front suspension.

The C-bodies and others use a taller spiindle (control arms further apart) so they effect the geometry.

I would take bothe sets apart and compare. If critical measurments are the same go for it.

I don't think so...

For some reason, I don't think so...I was on the hunt last year for disc brake spindles that would bolt in to my '58 Coronet. Not easy to find! I found out out that Cordoba front spindles will NOT fit the hard way, nor the 'doba's 9.25 rear axle. Yes, the coronet is not a challenger or a Cordoba, but all the same. I thought that the 'Doba B-body stuff would work, based on the premise that Challengers have B-body stuff, but it seems not the case! All the old geezers on the forwardlook website kept telling me that only chally stuff would fit. My advice is to stick to Challenger stuff only, but your luck might be better than mine

The Cordoba is a totally different animal isn't it? I ment B-bodies of the same generation. i.e. late 60s early 70s Chargers, RoadRunners and Coronets etc.

yes...

yeah...TOTALLY different animal...I would be wary of swapping pre-68 stuff on to the challenger, but thats just me...

Yeah. That's why I said
If the 66 Charger steering knuckles are the same as the later 69 and 70 Chargers

In my car club magazine there is a reprint of a Dec. '04 Car Craft article about a '66 Charger and the owner has fitted '73 Challenger front spindles and brakes. So if it works that way around......
