alrighty guys, we're in the middle of doing the front suspension inspection/bushing replacement process and i was looking at some photos of nice, finished suspensions........i noticed a strange bar...WHOOPS thats the sway bar.(we do not have one installed nor did it come with one, nor any of the attaching end links etc.) So, my question is. While we have this thing apart, is now the time to hook this thing up? and how does it attack to the suspension or body?

The ends attach to the lower control arm on brackets yours will not have if it didn't leave the factory with one.
Then there are two bushes that bolt to plates that in turn are bolted to the K-frame.

thank you dave,
so if there are no brackets, we'll have to purchase an aftermarket one. Will an aftermarket one bolt in the same place or will it be like the rear sway ar where the frame must be drilled?

The brackets on the LCAs have to be welded on. Some sway bar kits come with a bracket you can use but it looks nothing like the stock one and it is just a simple right angle which would scare me so i would brace it.
The stock LCA attaching points can be seen in this phot of my front suspension taken some time ago.

In fact thinking about it you are better off getting a pair of LCAs that already have the bracket on. Any E or B body from that era will be the same.

What is the braodcast sheet code for front and rear sway bars?

I only have a couple of 1970 sheets that may have been built before rear bars were available. They show S31 on the sheet for the front bar.

My sheet has a 62 code (11/69 build date) in the "Sbar" column on the sheet.????

You are right Steve. I missed that one on line 4 of the sheet.
I was looking down on line 11 under "Suspension-Steering" where there is a box for sway bar too.

I think its the code for the front bar. Somebody must have taken my rears off but I know most 69 built cars do not have them in the rear....very common on 71s.

I would love to see a real good photo of this bar and attach points if a member has one to supply.
