Rear Bump Stops

Postby JimDP » 29 Dec 2005 22:01

My car is in the body shop right now having the rust taken out of the rear end and I'm looking for some new rear frame bump stops since one is missing and the other is a little chewed up. Surprisingly to me, I haven't been able to easily find a source for these. Anyone know where I might be able to get them?

Thanks for all your help.

Is that the rubber bump stops above the axle you need? I am sure all the usual places like Year One sell them. Easy to find.

I think I have found them on www.yearone.com , as Dave suggested. Take a look at partnumber FR841P. I think that is the bumper you are looking for. No pic is attached so I am not 100% sure.

(You will find that partnumber at http://www.yearone.com/serverfiles/fbsh ... .asp?cat=1 , then choose "suspension" and after that "Rear-Axle Bumpers/Rear Spring Bushings"(below "Springs/Shocks/Sway Bars"). Not cheap though. $76 for a pair.

Thanks everyone for responding.

Those are indeed what I'm looking for and I had seen that set at Year One. I'm not prepared to pay what they want for them so then searched all the other restoration parts houses I know about for something a little more reasonable without any success. Much to my surprise I didn't even find them anywhere else, which led to my post. I apologize for not being clearer in the first place. It doesn't sound like any of you have seen them anywhere else either. Off to the junk yards now I suppose.

Thanks again for taking the time to respond. It is much appreciated.

I suggest that you get in contact with Energy Suspension. Maybe you can do a simple drawing with dimensions, scan it and then send it to them!?

This is what they say in one of their ebay ads:
Universal Energy Suspension Bump Stops
Many Different Universal Sizes Available!

Ebay store: http://stores.ebay.com/Energy-Suspension
List of universal bump stops: http://www.energysuspensionparts.com/ca ... 0Stops.asp
Official webpage: http://www.energysuspension.com/

Btw: Take a look at the pic below from one of their ebay ads. It looks to me as if it is the large black bump stop to the right that you need (or at least something similar). Good luck!

Just suspension have these bump stops ( http://www.justsuspension.com/bumpstops.htm ) but I think they are for the front suspension only
