Power steering box leak

Postby John Turner » 18 Nov 2005 23:45

Why is my power steering unit leaking from this adjusting nut? Is there a seal or o-ring that goes below the nut? I hate to take this thing back off, it is a brand new unit! Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

John :rage:

Yes there is by the looks of it. Be sure to check out the adjustments posted in this section. You will need to do those if you mess with the nut.

Hi John, where did you get your new steering unit and about what did it send you back? Do they offer a rebuild service for your old one? Mine leaks from every possible seal. thanks Dan.

Actually it is not a new one, I just went to the local auto parts store and bought a rebuilt one. It set me back about 189.00 dollars. My old one was the same, it leaked everywhere! I had to give them my old one for a core. I got it last year and finally got around to dropping the engine in, and when it was all said and done I fired it up and it leaked! It took about 5 o-rings till I found the right one for it to stop leaking, works great though! You can go with those mopar shops that rebuild them but it will cost you!!

Hope this helps

There is Firm Feel inc and...damn. Can't remember the other one. They both sell re-built units in stock or modified form.
