what is the maximum tire width I can fit under the stock rear wheel openings assuming I have got the perfect backspacing and all that stuff figured out?

275mm on an 15" X 8" rim is as far as I would go.

A lot depends on getting the Back spacing correct as well.

Two questions: what is the backspacing limitations of the challengers? Could a 295/50-15 fit in rear with proper backspacing adjustments?

thanks,

Sorry, I read from another post that 295/50-15 is too wide for stock chassis (rear leaf placement). I also like the look of a 17" wheel on the challengers. Any comments?

Please, take a look at "Freddies ´74" in the "Photos of your Challengers"-section and tell me what you think of the wheels! 18" high and wide tires. Mmmmmm....

A 295/50/15 will fit a stock chassis and wheel arch but only if it is squeezed onto a 8" wide wheel rim which is really far too small. Plus you would only have a quarter inch betweem rubber and spring. I don't understand how Freddie gets his wheels and tyres to fit! My 295s only have about 1/2"-3/4" between rubber and spring with 10" wide rims and the springs moved in 3/4". My 15x10 wheels have a 5.5" backspace.

I did see that picture of "freddie's." Yeah, 18" looks pretty nice! You'll be paying more for the tires than the wheels at that size, and you have to replace them every...well...(haha).
