i have a 74 challenger and having a problem with traction. the car is stock weight with a big block and automatic, with stock suspension (318 and pinnion snubber). with 29.5x10.5 slicks and 4.56 gears. The car ran 11.50's with 1.76 60 foot times. I'm planning on upgrading the rear suspesion but not sure what to do. I've heard good and bad things about the superstock springs. Any idea's

You need stiffer springs at the rear for sure.

Superstock springs are shorter in the front section and control spring wind-up better. They also have a higher spring rate on the right side to counter the torque. I know people that swear they are OK on the street and you might not be very concerned about how well it corners at speed but I decided not to go that way myself.

I had a pair of springs made to my own spec because I wanted to retain the stock length. About 30% stiffer than the stock 440/426 rear springs and the same rate each side for cornering. I also added a rear anti-roll bar.

A rear sway bar is a much better way (my opinion) to control roll at the rear then just making one spring a bit stiffer.

A pinion snubber is fine as long as the rear springs are stiff enough and the snubber is placed to within a quarter inch of the floorpan. If a snubber is not enough move on to CalTracs but at your performance level the snubber should be OK.

Keep your front springs light if your car is not intended to handle well on corners. This will transfer weight faster. Remove the front sway bar too if you want but don't drive anywhere on the street with just a rear bar.

Make sure your slicks are not under or over inflated. Less than 10lbs is probably too little and more than 15lbs is probably too much. With treaded tires you will probably want more pressure. Normal street radials like a lot of pressure.
