Challenger tire size

Postby roadrunner » 24 Apr 2004 22:35

I have a 70 Challenger numbers match 340 4 speed car with factory 15" ralley wheels. I put a set of Goodrich radial P225/70R15 tires on the rims and it's a tight fit when you crank the wheels (maximum turn) in either direction. Like .25" from the edge of the tire to the tip of the inner fender (front) when maxed out. Did I go too big with the tires? I'm not sure what this dude came with from the factory.

Thoughts.....?

The original tyre sizes are on my web site at dodgechallenger.co.uk

340 cars came with E60 X 15s. Sounds to me like you have gone a bit tall by using a 70 series (which would have been fine in the 14-inch size).

Also check your ride hight is correct.

I was afraid you were going to say that. I suppose I have the following options:
1. Sell them cheep!!!
2. Take the front tires off and bolt them on the back of my 69 6pk runner and fry them good a could times then put them back on.
Thanks for your help!!!

If you decide to fry them, you could make a movieclip and post it here  :)
